Feeling totally stuck in your business and in a limbo of “wtf do I do next?” We’ve all been there. You’re overwhelmed, confused, uncertain, AND you still gotta find a way to keep things moving along while you figure your life out.
Friend, I get it.
In a culture that glorifies productivity and perfection, I know your first reaction might be to beat yourself up about not having your life together all the time.
Yet, as you and I both know after some conscious time on planet earth, nothing ever goes according to plan.
So, here you are. Stuck, confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next.
What’s a spiritual human to do when you’ve got a full life to live, soul work to share, and abundance to receive?
As a mindset coach and business co-creator, I completely understand what it feels like to be totally stuck. It’s the common thread that all my clients have starting out – feeling stuck and wanting more.
But you don’t have to feel powerless in your quest for limitless freedom and infinite abundance. Stuck doesn’t actually have to be a bad thing.
These are my top tips and reframes to help you reclaim your power when you’re feeling totally stuck and let it serve you – instead of overwhelm you.
It’s Okay That You’re Feeling Stuck
We’re biologically and socially programmed to avoid anything uncomfortable. Pain, discomfort, anxiety, you name it. We’re wired to move away from pain and towards pleasure.
Instinctually, when we’re feeling stuck, we want to jump out of that sensation because it’s uncomfortable.
However, as conscious humans, we know that discomfort holds the great capacity for growth. But we can only access this treasure trove if we slow down and listen.
Being stuck isn’t a bad thing.
It doesn’t mean that you don’t have your life together. It doesn’t mean you don’t know what you’re doing and that you’re falling behind. It doesn’t mean anything until you assign meaning to it.
The first step in getting unstuck is to accept that you are stuck.
And to accept this experience as something happening for you – not to you. It’s here to invite you to realign and open a door for you that you’d pass right by if you were caught up in the daily grind.
Give Yourself Permission to Slow Down
The next step in getting unstuck is slowing down. Before you roll your eyes at me, know that I GET how difficult it can be to slow down.
I know that giving yourself permission to slow down can be challenging.
So, if you’re struggling to slow down (even if part of you REALLY wants to), start by reminding yourself that you’re safe.
Your subconscious mind holds plenty of programming that effort = results, you have to hustle to be productive, you can’t receive if you rest, etc.
When we’re stressed, we activate our fight/flight/freeze response. This activates our sympathetic nervous system which is like the gas pedal saying hustle ‘til it’s done (or numb out and avoid being present with the discomfort).
On the other hand, your conscious mind lives in your cerebral cortex along with your logical reasoning and deductive skills. So even though you may have a conscious thought that you want to slow down, your nervous system is screaming that it’s not safe to do that.
So, in order to create space to slow down, you need to remind your body that it’s safe for you to do so by activating your parasympathetic nervous system.
Put your hands over your heart, take in 3 deep belly breaths, tell yourself (inside or aloud) that you’re safe, held, and supported. Then, set the intention to receive what you need to in order to move forward.
Slow Down, Listen, and TRUST
When you’re stuck, you’re in an energetic holding tank. As co-creators with the Universe, this holding tank creates time and space for you to align deeper with your purpose and for the Universe to make magic happen on the backend for you.
There are divine messages waiting for you in this space. But you can only receive them if you slow down and listen.
Dedicate time and space to tune in. Whether that be 5 minutes to meditate, 15 minutes of journaling, or a half day hike in nature, this is the time to create space to receive.
As these messages start to come through, write them down. Have a special place where you can document what comes through.
Some messages might come with a clear next step. If you feel compelled to take action, do so quickly and with love.
Other messages might leave you uncertain or even more confused than before. Trust that these are pieces to a larger puzzle that are all coming together perfectly for you.
Like getting ingredients and instructions for a recipe one piece at a time. You won’t fully understand what you’re creating based on “basil” and “sear over medium-high heat”.
Your ego is going to create stories and explanations to create a sense of certainty. Because if you totally trust the Big U, your ego feels like it’s not needed anymore and out of a job. But just because your ego says thing are/have to be a certain way, doesn’t mean that’s actual fact.
If we’re manifesting anything, I choose to trust that it’s all working out in my favor. Instead of manifesting my worries into reality.
More than anything, be patient with yourself and the process. I know that it’s tempting to rush to the end. But the more that you can practice being in this experience (rather than doing), the less stress that you’ll create for yourself. And if it feels too much to chew all on your own, reach out and get support from a conscious friend, mentor, or coach.
Let it be easy. You’re worth it. And remember that this is happening for you to grow as the most fully expressed version of you.
